Patiala, Punjab (March 31, 2012): As per information available with Sikh Siyasat, Paramjeet Singh, fourth Sikh who was injured during clash at Arya Samaj area of Patiala, is also removed from Rajindra Hospital by Patiala police. Reliable sources revealed that Paramjeet Singh got discharged from hospital by the Police and was immediately arrested from the Hospital premiss yesterday evening.

Police did not filed his arrest in records till this evening. It is said that police was busy in maintaining security arrangements in wake of Navratre Shobha Yatra in city therefore “paperwork” was delayed. It is notable that as per Criminal Procedure code and Supreme Court of India rulings this delay amounts to violation of due procedure and fundamental right of “life and liberty” of the detainee.

It is notable that on March 28, during Punjab bandh (shut-down) altercation between Sikhs protesting against death sentence of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and activists of Hindu right wing Shiv Sena turned violent. Police had restored to immense cane-charge on Sikhs. Four Sikhs, namely Paramjeet Singh, Karanpreet Singh, Tejbir Singh and Tejdeep Singh received massive injuries. Paramjeet Singh’s condition was critical on March 28. Police registered a case u/s 307, 353, 144 and some other sections of IPC.

The police removed Karanpreet Singh, Tejbir Singh and Tejdeep Singh from emergency ward of Rajindra hospital on March 28 and they were kept in CIA staff police station, Patiala. Karanpreet Singh and Tejbir Singh were able to secure bail, while Tejdeep Singh is still in jail.
Yesterday (March 30) the police arrested Paramjeet Singh from Rajindra Hospital Patiala and he is in the custody of Patiala Police.
